INSTALLING SKY HIGH

We were thrilled to learn our project Allegra had taken the top honour in the category of Best Residential Building over $20 million on the Gold Coast at the recent 2018 Master Builder Housing & Construction Awards.

With its killer curves and contemporary lines, this 114-apartment luxury tower really has become a striking landmark in the heart of the Southport CBD. We were enlisted to create some bespoke pieces for the super luxe Level 15 floor rooftop entertaining space and residents' lounge, which features two separate barbecue areas and panoramic views overlooking Surfers Paradise, Marina Mirage and the Broadwater.

The Concrete Nation team created two identical barbecue areas – named Sunrise and Sunset – and both had a nine metre-long long barbecue benchtop, which were crafted as two 4.5 metre pieces.  Each one had two three-metre Dry Bar benchtops with waterfall ends done as one piece.  All benchtops were 100mm thick so the weight of the benchtops was a whopping 250kg - especially the ones with waterfall ends all as one.

Then came the process of craning the heavy benchtops up to the 15th floor and dropped in through the hole in the roof.

“Having the benchtops and waterfall ends all in one piece made the process a bit more tricky but we got there in the end and we are so happy that we were able to do it in one piece,” says Concrete Nation’s general manager, Kate Lett. “It really has so much impact.”

The rooftop certainly is one stylish space for a few sundowners. See the final result for yourself below.
