TO say the Gold Coast has undergone an arts, business and cultural transformation in recent years is an understatement.

Once known for its theme parks and Surfers Paradise glitter strip, our surf city has transformed into a true cultural mecca with world-class restaurants, retail precincts, event spaces, start-ups and a slew of home-grown brands and designers creating a buzz on a global scale.

As you know, we work a lot with the talented team over at Three Balls Red, a boutique tile and lighting showroom, which has the best products and service in the business.

The owner/founder Jasmine Dowthwaite and her team have recently opened a lifestyle store and cafe Roller Door Espresso - for the best coffee in Bundall - on site and we are blown away by the sick edit of furniture, homewares, art, interiors and luxurious bedding.

Better yet, almost everything in the Three Balls store has been sourced from local creatives and designers, which is a true indication of the incredible pool of creative talent here on the Gold Coast.

Aside from handcrafted basins by Concrete Nation, shop a selection of linen from Moss Living, Scandilux wooden hooks and towel rails, handblown glass artwork that doubles as lighting from Soktas, hand-rolled brass and copper pendants by Studio Flek, handmade wooden linear pendants by Fluxwood and artwork by hot sustainable brand, Wabi Projects.

One of the most exciting additions to the space is contemporary furniture by Queensland College of Art graduate, CJ Anderson, creator of the luxe aluminium, brass and leather Soigne Chair.

The celebrated designer was one of a select few of Australians to show at the Milan Furniture Fair, part of the prestigious Milan Design Week, which showcases the world’s leading brands and emerging designers.

“I wanted Three Balls Red to become the platform to bring everyone together and promote their creations,” Jasmine tells Concrete Nation. “Shopping local is such an important thing in any community.

“I am constantly blown away by the homegrown talent here on the Gold Coast. Once we started scratching the surface, we came across so many talented people and they were all more than happy to suggest other people they had met along the way. I am looking forward to seeing who pops up next.”
