WE recently announced an exciting new international partnership between our Gold Coast-based family business and Plumbline, New Zealand’s leading bathroom supplier.

This 29-year-old family company, founded by plumber Geoff Wallace, specialises in kitchen and bathroom products that are timeless yet differ from the norm and from now on, Plumbline will be the sole distributor of Concrete Nation products in New Zealand.

Plumbline works with some of New Zealand’s leading architects and interior designers on some of the country’s most luxurious homes so needless to say, we were thrilled for the opportunity to have our handcrafted pieces displayed alongside some of the world’s best - and most unique - brands.

If you’re in Wellington or Auckland, do yourselves a favour and pop into their stunning showrooms for some serious design inspiration. In the meantime, we took five with Plumbline’s Suzanne Roff to learn more about this business we are so proud and grateful to be associated with.

Can you tell us a little about the beginnings of Plumbline?

Plumbline is a family business, founded by Geoff Wallace in 1990. After 10 years as a plumber, Geoff saw an opportunity in New Zealand for a bathroom design and installation service and, within a few years, he began importing traditional bathware from England to make his showroom stand out from others and give his clients extra choice.  Since those early days, Plumbline has grown to now deliver an extensive yet curated collection of unique bathroom and kitchen products; from the timeless to the contemporary, focusing on unique and innovative design.

What appealed to you about Concrete Nation’s handcrafted products?

We love the artisan quality, uniqueness and passion that is evident in the Concrete Nation product range. We are super excited to be able to bring such a beautiful range of coloured baths and basins back to New Zealand homeowners and interior designers.

In a world of mass production, how important is it to Plumbline to source unique, timeless and quality products?

Unique and timeless products are what we do best and what we have always been known for.  We want customers to enjoy their bathrooms for years to come so we only source products from world-leading manufacturers that share our high-quality standards, values and passion for innovation and design.

Trends will come and go and we are right there in amongst the latest innovations, however style and quality remains paramount.  Plumbline customers don’t need to compromise quality for style.

Architectural concrete has been a strong trend in interiors in Australia. Is this also the case in New Zealand? Why do you think your clients opt for concrete in the home or commercial spaces?

Yes, we are also seeing a lot of raw concrete being used in New Zealand homes because it creates such a modern, industrial look while also being cost effective and extremely durable.  We also find clients are wanting products that differ from the norm so we believe Concrete Nation basins and baths not only fits with the latest design trends but also gives clients the opportunity to create something a little different in their bathroom designs.

What are some of your most rewarding projects to date?

We have been privileged to work with a lot of New Zealalnd’s leading architects and designers on some of the most luxurious homes in the country. One of the recent projects that was really exciting to be part of was the re-build of the Britten Stables, post Christchurch earthquakes, where a lot of our Buddy tapware in brushed brass and made-to-measure solid surface washbasins were used.
